The focus of Feedback Loop lies in exploring the sites and sounds of strange and surplus space within New York City to examine the symbiosis of natural and artificial complex systems as a means for imagining new futures. Consisting of 4-channel audio, projections, robotic prototypes, and live performance; Feedback loop uses materials, audio, and video from specific sites as the primary tools for creation. Our system consists of generating new sounds and visuals that mine this history and explore the implication of accessibility to alternative knowledge as the basis for new ways of moving forward.

Hasht Peykar / هشت پیکر explores various factors of body oppression in an immersive environment. The formation of communities around religions and ethics, structural oppression by the governments, or racism can cause individuals to impose certain restrictions on the human body. The piece mainly focuses on Iranian/Afghan women and queer bodies, based on the artist’s living experience.

The Persian-language title Hasht Peykar (هشت پیکر) can be translated as eight bodies/figures/portraits. The body can be divided into seven parts: Head and Neck, Chest, Abdomen, Pelvis, Thigh, Shank, and Foot. In this piece, “the soul” is added as another part of the body. The name of the piece also refers to Haft Peykar, a romantic epic by Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi written in 1197.

MAY 1st + 7th: RSVP HERE**
**Zoom links and venue address will be sent 24-hours prior to the event date.**

Join Feedback Loop on May 1st + May 7th for creative explorations of the VHS Activism Archive. The teaching collection of AIDS activist video was recently digitized and made available online. Now we're bringing it to you! Celebrate art, activist and archival communities through conversation, archival screenings and performance art!

WHAT DID WE MAKE? May 1st, 1pm, free

online @ Interference Archive

Screening and discussion of archival activist video with Dr. Alexandra Juhasz of the VHS Activism Archive. What can we learn from community art video practice? What is the role of aesthetics/critique in community based practice? What is the role of labor in “saving”? What is a physical memory object in the digital age?

WHAT SHOULD WE SAVE?

May 7th, Doors 7pm/Show 8pm, $10 suggested

in-person/online @ Chaos Computer Greenpoint

An evening of live performance, poetry, movement and music! Featuring Dreamcrusher, Shala Miller, members of Smear Campaign and more. In conversation with archival activist material, these artists consider: what analog material should be saved in the digital age? How do these choices shape queer collective memory?

RSVP HERE!**

FEEDBACK LOOP is a 4-piece performance art collective centering art, activism and archives. We use interactive multimedia to discuss queer collective memory, object obsolescence and community art practice. We are Lucy Hollier, darLane Litaay, Alex Suárez, and Corey O'Hara.
